If I decide to leave the industry, is there any way to permanently erase my content from the internet?

Unfortunately, it is generally not possible to permanently remove content from the internet, as digital content can be copied and re-uploaded over and over again by third parties.

Depending on the circumstances, additional legal remedies might be available. We recommend consulting a lawyer about the options available in the relevant jurisdiction, including the possibility of pursuing legal action. A court may, depending on the circumstances, issue an order requiring the removal of content from websites within its jurisdiction.

If your case involves non-consensual intimate images (NCII), sextortion, or other criminal conduct, you may also consider reporting the matter to the appropriate law enforcement authorities. In the US, this may include the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3). Additional reporting and removal options, such as StopNCII or protections available under the TAKE IT DOWN Act, may also be available for eligible NCII cases.
